TLDR
From talks at schools, to workshops on AI, I have developed a passion for reducing the gender gap in the tech industry.
Statistics show the only 24% of the Tech Industry are women, and only 16% of women have had a career in Tech suggested to them. Furthermore there is a lack of awareness around design and non-code based opportunities in Tech.
I have delivered multiple UX design outreach talks as an Ambassador working with social impact charity InnovateHer, including an assembly for 240 Year 8 and 9 girls. For the annual global initiative, Girls in ICT Day, I volunteered with BBC WiStem and collaborated with a Research and Development engineer to run an AI workshop for 25 girls. Together we showcased BBC work on deepfakes and I guided them through the process of creating their own app using Google Stitch—giving them hands-on insight into product design.
After all the talks I've done, the girls left feeling energised and excited about tech careers. This work has deepened my passion for improving visibility of design roles, reducing the gender gap, and inspiring the next generation of female designers.
