I partnered with senior Product & Engineering stakeholders to meet tight delivery deadlines without impacting user experience.
The Bitesize mobile app hadn't received a major update in 10 years, leaving its codebase and design outdated. There were big plans to make Bitesize the 'Duolingo of education', however nothing could be done until there was a stable codebase and designs that aligned to the BBC's native-first app design system.
I worked as part of a Product Trio (design, product & engineering) to design and deliver a new version of the Bitesize app across iOS & Android.
I collaborated closely with teams across the business including the App Design System team, prioritising native-first design to reduce development time and effort. I remained agile and pragmatic, working with my engineering team to cut scope in order to meet tight delivery timelines, without impacting user experience.
A new and improved, native mobile app on Android & iOS for students studying for their GCSE's, Nationals & Highers (Scotland).
A product that aligns with the BBC Product Group's mission to utilise an app design system in order to create consistency across all our mobile apps and reduce duplicated effort.
This complex redesign covered features such as onboarding, My Bitesize, & curriculum content experiences, and catered for students studying in all four nations of the UK, including those who spoke Welsh and Gaelic, and those who use accessibility features such as screen readers, dynamic text and voice control.
